Active Shooter Procedures

Submitted by:  Elder Davis

With the recent shootings around the mainland, please take these procedures seriously.

  • In the event of a violent crime on PCC grounds such as an active shooter, evacuate and run away from the incident only if you can do so safely.
  • If you cannot run away, then you need to shelter in place and hide.
  • Be prepared to defend yourself or others by identifying weapons (sticks, rocks, etc.) that can be utilized for self-defense.

If you are in a building you should:

  • Silence your phone
  • Turn off your lights
  • Lock the door
  • Close the windows
  • Hide in a location not visible from the inside or outside of the room

In the event, the perpetrator breaks into your hiding place utilize any and all means possible to fight for your life and safety. If you can remain hidden wait in the place of shelter until the police find you or until you get an all-clear. If the police enter your hiding place, it is important to keep your hands visible, refrain from screaming and follow their directions.
