Article #2: Ku Mai Ka Hula Competition Winners

Submitted by: Delsa Moe, VP of Cultural Presentations

Congratulations to Michellae Timata (Tahiti Village and Theater) and David Auna (Theater and Hawaii Village) who recently competed in the Ku Mai Ka Hula Competition on Maui on Sept 9 and 10. They both placed 3rd in the Ms. Hula and Mr. Hula solo competitions respectively and won the Leianaikaroselaniomaui Award which recognizes the hālau that exhibits overall excellence in hula. They represented PCC’s halau – Hui Ho’oulu Aloha – under the direction of our very talented kumu hula, Pomaika’i Krueger.

This is the 3rd time Hui Ho’oulu Aloha has competed in the Maui competition and they have placed each time. We are very, very proud of all of them.
