Article #2: The Center receives Mahalo from the Honolulu Fire Department

Submitted by: Delsa Moe, VP of Cultural Presentations

On Monday, October 24th, the Center received a visit from some very grateful leaders of the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD). They were Battalion Chief Sean Kamai, who is in charge of operations for HFD on the Windward side of Oʻahu, and Assistant Chief Joe Kostiha, who is the 3rd in command for all of HFD and responsible for all Oʻahu operations. They came to the Center to personally thank our Culinary Services Department for providing a much appreciated dinner for their crews on September 27th, who were fighting a stubborn fire in the Lāʻie hills which lasted 10 days.

They presented a custom HFD poker chip and photo autographed by all the firefighters involved in the Lāʻie hills fire which included two PCC alumni – Captain Eric Hammond and Adrian Aiu of the Kahuku station – to our Culinary Services team members.

It was a great privilege for PCC to join our community in providing meals to our first responders during this incident. Mahalo to the Culinary Service Department for their service.
