The Center is Temporarily closed
The Center begins to look towards reopening
The Polynesian Cultural Center has begun the steps to reopen its doors! Although an exact date has not determined yet, we are busily preparing our 6 island villages, our displays, the dining facilities and most importantly, we are instituting all of the safety measures needed for a healthy, happy experience for us all.
Making the decision of when we open will be based on various factors, such as state and national compliance requirements, staffing, the full institution of safety measures, etc.
In the meantime, we’ve been cleaning, fixing and upgrading our grounds and facilities. We’re excited to show off our new village gardens, a crystal clean lagoon, and upgraded ADA compliant walkways.
We are a non-profit organization. The majority of our employees are students from the neighboring Brigham Young University-Hawaii. We are dedicated to supporting their education and well-being. In the wake of COVID-19, universities around the world, including BYUH, are moving to online study to minimize large group gatherings until the threat subsides. This factors greatly into staffing, as over 70% of our staff consists of students attending BYU-Hawaii, the majority of which are from underserved communities from across the Pacific Rim and beyond.
We look forward to making the big announcement in the next few weeks, and can't wait to welcome you, our Ohana, to the beautiful Polynesian Cultural Center!
