The road to a “New Normal”
Aloha my PCC Ohana!
Amidst all of the political turmoil, violent protests, and the ongoing effects of COVID-19, the general conference this weekend was like the proverbial “breath of fresh air” that I am sure we were all so grateful to inhale.
So much was shared that I feel is of great worth to me and my family, as well as our PCC ohana. I certainly hope you feel the same way. I was thinking of what specifically to share with you from the general conference today, and then I read the following from our beloved prophet, President Russell M. Nelson, on his Facebook page:
“Throughout this #GeneralConference I have pictured you in my mind listening to conference. I have asked the Lord to help me understand what you are feeling, worrying about, or trying to resolve.
I feel that despite the world’s commotion, the Lord would have us “look forward [to the future] with joyful anticipation” (Joseph Smith, “History of the Church,” 4:609–10). Let us not spin our wheels in the memories of yesterday. The gathering of Israel moves forward. The Lord Jesus Christ directs the affairs of His Church, and it will achieve its divine objectives.
Today we often hear about “a new normal.” If you really want to embrace “a new normal,” I invite you to turn your heart, mind, and soul increasingly to our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Let that be your “new normal.”
Embrace your “new normal” by repenting daily. Seek to be increasingly pure in thought, word, and deed. Minister to others. Keep an eternal perspective. Magnify your callings. And, whatever your challenges, my dear brothers and sisters, live each day so that you are more prepared to meet your Maker.
President Nelson then offers a listening ear to each of us personally.
Now I invite you to leave a comment for me if you wish. As we conclude this conference, what will you do to embrace a “new normal”—to turn your heart, mind, and soul to our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ?”
Amen
