Outline of planned changes when PCC reopens

According to today’s edition of the Honolulu Star Advertiser, Governor Ige is reportedly close to announcing a COVID-19 testing protocol that could loosen, reduce or even eliminate the current 14-day quarantine requirement for all trans-pacific travelers. This would be excellent news for all of Hawaii if it is actually true, as literally hundreds of thousands of local residents have lost their jobs because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Once the 14-day quarantine is lifted we estimate it will take a month or so before daily visitor arrivals are large enough to support reopening the PCC. Even then, we fully expect attendance and revenue for the remainder of this year and next year to be much, much less than what we had in 2019. With that in mind, most of you are probably aware we are making the following changes when we reopen:
- We will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but closed on Wednesdays
- There will be no “Huki” canoe celebration
- There will be no Prime Rib or Island Buffets. Only the luau meal service will be offered, along with concessions, food trucks and Pounders.
These activities, as well as others, are expected to remain closed until our attendance numbers are large enough to support them and we can staff them adequately.
