How do you malama the Polynesian Cultural Center?

How do you malama the Polynesian Cultural Center?

How do you malama PCC?

In the orientation video that introduces the Hawaiian cultural value of “malama”, which is to care for something, we learn what it means to “malama PCC” and we are asked by one of our kupuna in the video “what are you willing to do” as an employee of PCC? That cultural value has never been more evident than during this time of closure. It has been impressive to witness the willingness and dedication of those who are still working, to do whatever job is necessary to “malama PCC”. There might not be any performers, tour guides, restaurant workers or concession workers, at this time, but that’s because they are now painters, gardeners, custodians, grounds workers and security personnel. Whatever their job has been during this pandemic, they have learned these new skills well and the results have been wonderful! When we “malama PCC”, it also results in “one ohana sharing aloha”.
