Keeping the PCC a COVID-free work environment

Aloha PCC Ohana!

Up to this point we have been blessed to have no known cases of COVID-19 at the PCC. To help maintain our COVID-free status, the frequent washing of our hands with soap and water or at least using hand sanitizer has been strongly encouraged. As has the wearing of face-masks when close contact (6 feet or less) with others is unavoidable. We have also been encouraged to avoid large gatherings (10 or more people), especially outside our normal “bubbles” of family, friends and co-workers.

With the number of new COVID-19 cases now exceeding 100 to 200 a day on Oahu it has become even more imperative that we enforce the washing of hands, wearing of face-masks and avoiding large gatherings, especially outside of our community where the likelihood of someone having COVID-19 is high.

We need to do our very best to keep the PCC a COVID-free work environment and so I strongly encourage all of us to avoid large gatherings, especially outside of our community. If for some reason you do participate in a large gathering or are aware of a fellow employee who did, please notify your manager so alternative work that does not involve close contact with others can be arranged. Managers will also frequently ask if you attended any large gatherings especially after the weekend.

Again, it is a blessing to have had no known cases of COVID-19 at the PCC, and I know we all want to keep it that way, so I ask that as an ohana we obey the above rules. More specifically, each of us must follow these guidelines:

Personal Hygiene:

• Wash hands for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
• Always wash hands with soap and water. If soap and water are not readily available, then use an alcohol- based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol and avoid working with unwrapped or exposed foods.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash hands after.

Face Masks:

• When outside wear a mask that completely covers your nose and mouth when close contact of 6 feet or less, is unavoidable.
• Always wear a non-medical grade face covering over your nose and mouth when engaged and interacting with customers, visitors, and other employees

Large Gatherings:

• Avoid large gatherings of 10 or more people, especially outside of your normal “bubbles” of family, friends and co-workers. If you did participate in a large gathering, notify your manager so you can be assigned to work that minimizes contact with others.

Managers, please, make sure your respective areas know and comply with these rules.
