FREE Admission to Hear From, Get Autographs of Special Honorees, ex-NFL Stars

Laie, Hawaii – January 15, 2014 – The Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC) is hosting a special, free event celebrating the football stars of Polynesia and inviting fans young and old to come meet them on Friday, January 24, starting at 3:30 p.m.

Called the Polynesian Football Heroes Tribute, this one-of-a-kind, community-inspired event will allow attendees to participate in a question-and-answer forum with the special honorees and former NFL players, followed by autograph signings.

Special guests of honor include five of the inaugural inductees into the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame, former college and NFL stars Kurt Gouveia, Olin Kreutz, Kevin Mawae, and Jack Thompson, and Navy Head Coach Ken Niumatalolo.

Also taking part in this fan-friendly celebration are members of the Board of Directors for the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame, all of whom competed in the NFL: Jesse Sapolu, Chairman and Co-Founder; Maa Tanuvasa, Vice Chairman and Co-Founder; Vai Sikahema; Reno Mahe; and former University of Hawaii Head Coach June Jones.

Alfred Grace, PCC President and CEO, commented, “These men of Polynesia have inspired all of Hawaii with their excellence at the highest levels of football and we are thrilled to bring them together with the community to recognize their feats of glory.”

Admission to the Polynesian Football Heroes Tribute is free. However, those wanting to secure a seat are strongly encouraged to reserve tickets in advance by calling the PCC at (808) 293-3333. Tickets will be given to the first 800 guests on a first-come, first-served basis. PCC is providing the first 800 guests with a commemorative poster for autograph signings.
